CHALLAH                                                      yield:
2 large loaves
Ingredients: 
2 package of yeast (4 ½ teaspoon) 
2 -2 1/2 cups of lukewarm water
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup plus 1 TBS sugar
8 cups flour 
4 TBS oil
3 eggs - divided
Sesame seeds, optional
 Method:
1.      Dissolve
yeast in 1/2 cup water, add the salt and 1TBS sugar and let it rise for 15
minutes. 
2.      Sift
flour into large bowl; add the yeast mixture, the remaining sugar,oil, 2
eggs, and enough water to make  a soft  dough,  knead until
satin-smooth.
3.      Place
in a large greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in bulk( about 2
1/2 hours ). Punch down and divide into 2 equal parts.  For two
large  loaves .
4.      Divide each
ball into 6 parts.  Then roll with your hands into ropes. 
Then join the 6 strips at the top and then braid it . 
5.      Place
on greased cookies sheet. Let rise 1/2 hour.  Covered with a damp rag. 
6. Then brush with egg wash. Add sesame seeds or whatever topping you want for your bread and bake at 350゚F For 45 minutes.
