Joyce shares this recipe from her Grandma’s cookbook. It makes enough so you can share with others!
Ingredients:
2 – 19 ounce cans chick-peas, drained, reserving 2/3 cup liquid
½ cup tahini
1/3 cup lemon juice
3 Tbsp olive oil
3 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 ½ Tbsp chopped garlic
1 ½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ground cumin
1 scant tsp pepper
Method:
In a food processor, blend chick-peas until slightly mashed but not totally smooth. Add tahini and process again.
Add lemon juice, oils, garlic, salt, cumin and 2/3 cup reserved bean liquid and pepper.
Blend to desired smoothness.
Serve with warmed pita bread and carrot sticks.
