Food as Medicine Tips: from Janice

You've hit a topic that I  have been obsessed with for the past couple years.  Food as Medicine... what a hot topic.   I have committed to learning about the science behind happiness on a casual basis for more than a five years.  It led to numerous areas that I am fascinated with and to be my own guinea pig.   I was trying to get into how us older folks can recover (re-building our bodies) and have good energy as I was doing martial art training with younger folks.

It connects with longevity, understanding / managing stress, lifestyles and diet and just LIFE!  So you asked Minh today a very complex yet simple question my dear.

It started when I discovered Dr. Diana Schwarz who is an Endocrinologist for 25 years.  This lecture was from 2014 but she was the one who caught my eye with diabetes.
Survival of the Smartest (part 1) - Dr Diana Schwarzbein

Dr. William Li:  Food as Medicine
The Science of How the Body Heals Itself with William Li, M.D.

Dr. Jason Fung  (too bad, not my uncle!)
The Truth About Calories | Jason Fung | Part 1  (Nov 2020)

Dr. David Sinclair, genetist and author of Lifespan:  Why we age and why we don't have to?

I'll keep it short so start with their youtube lectures and see where the journey to good health gets better with science!

Oh, and if you are lazy then just take these authors to request their books from the librarian.  haha

Seafood green onion pancake

Seafood green onion pancake maangchi’s recipe Some tips when making these pancakes: • For a vegetarian version, skip the seafood and egg and use vegetable stock. • The batter should be runny, because thick batter will clump when you cook it and your pancake won’t turn out well. • While cooking, press down and poke the pancake to make some gaps in between the green onions. You should see some steam coming up through the gaps, that means the green onions are being cooked nicely. • This pancake is too heavy to toss up and flip, so don’t try it! You’ll need a big spatula to turn it over. • Be sure to make the dipping sauce, that’s the best way to enjoy it! Ingredients   Serves 2 • ½ cup all-purpose flour • 1 tablespoon potato starch(corn starch) • ½ teaspoon kosher salt plus a pinch of salt • a pinch of ground black pepper • ¾ cup stock (anchovy kelp stock, chicken stock or vegetable stock), or water • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil • 12 green onions, roots and tops trimmed to 8 to ...
